Katy L. (Night) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Bristol, UK, working across digital painting, traditional media, and handmade crafts. Rooted in surrealism, her work emerges through automatic drawing and explores the boundaries between horror, anatomy, mythology, and the subconscious. Drawing inspiration from old master techniques, she builds layered textures using just five tonal colours and black—blending them through translucent layers that evoke the dark surrealist tradition.

Katy's pieces are known for their vivid, nature-inspired colour palettes and rich surface textures, often created using three distinct brushes to build complexity and depth. Her visual language blends elements of body horror, abandoned spaces, and art historical references to question how horror operates in both art and society.

She studied BA Drawing at Falmouth University and has been creating from her studio at D-Unit Studios for the past three years. Currently, Katy is developing a new series of fully imagined surrealist works—moving away from found imagery to dive deeper into her inner world.
